I wanted to share some of my favorite places to go walking during the summer in the DC/VA/MD area.
Scott’s Run Nature Preserve – McLean, VA

Huntley Meadow’s Park – Alexandria, VA
At Huntley Meadows Park, you can spy lots of interesting wildlife like beavers, cranes, and turtles. A beaver came up to the spot where we were standing and swam right underneath the boardwalk!

Great Falls Park – Great Falls, VA

Tidal Basin – Washington, DC
The Tidal Basin is the loveliest around cherry blossom time in March or April, but it is nice to walk around at any time of year. Visit the National Park Service website for more information on the Tidal Basin.

National Harbor – Fort Washington, MD
National Harbor is a nice spot to walk around during night time. There are lots of shops and restaurants to explore. Visit National Harbor’s website for more information.

Old Rag Mountain (Shenandoah National Park) – Sperryville, VA
Old Rag Mountain is a great spot to go hiking in the summertime. You get a wonderful landscape view of the mountains at the top. Visit the National Park Service website for more information.
